Welcome to our table!

We are John and Jane. We spend half the year in France on our canal boat, and the other half operating a micro bakery in an Australian village. We want to explore with you our delight in French food and the French way of life.

We believe that the French approach to food can bring pleasure and delight to all who pursue it, even though our interest in food generally ranges across all manner of cuisines and all kinds of experiences, from the sumptuous to the ultra-simple, from the traditional to the experimental and the exotic.

We will aim to explore questions about French food and cooking and to share some of our experiences of French cuisine at home, aboard our boat, with friends, and in the restaurants and cafés, boulangeries and boucheries, patisseries and épiceries of France.

We will include a selection of recipes for French dishes both classic and well-known, as well as those perhaps less famous but worth trying, at least once, by every home cook.
